This comment made my day

Last April I wrote a reader question post, What is this and what do I do with it? In that piece. a hapless reader sent me this photo:

And he asked me to identify the style and make some suggestions about how to decorate a bedroom around it. I told him to get rid of it more or less.

Well, at 10:36am on 19 March, someone who goes by the name of other could be mom left the following comment after that old post.
At least that reader isn't stuck with the bed AND a house full of honey oak furniture, honey oak flooring, honey oak "paneling", honey oak picture frames, honey oak early american anything that isn't from his mother's which is all honey oak and honey oak mantle clock with eerily honey oak brass finished "decorative" trim involving a lot of craptastic netting and swirls...i hate my life.
Thank you other could be mom, please come back.

  2. I recall the post. I have to wonder, if the owner ever did get rid of it. -Brenda-

  3. The last time my Mom & I went furniture shopping in High Point for her master bedroom I took pictures of the gaudiest set of bedroom furniture I could find and in all seriousness went back to her house and showed my Dad and said that is what we had picked out for their bedroom. I thought I was soooo funny! As my Mom says - who buys this stuff?!?!

  4. Who indeed? Clearly there's a market for it though.

  5. I would love a big heavy carved wood bed.. but not like that.. bleh.

I was just talking to the hubby last night about doing *something* with our bedroom, as it is, it's just one big jumble of castoff furniture and isn't much better than my bedroom was when I first left home with my family's hand me downs. Decorating a room can be SO hard when you don't really know how to pick out stuff that a) you like and b) fits with your budget. I think that I'm scared of buying *anything* because I'm afraid that it'll just end up being a jumble of mishmashed stuff like it is now.. but nicer pieces...

  10. As do I. Susan Serra convinced me that I should enable anonymous commenting so I went along with it. I love that people are a little more free to say what's on their minds (even if the idea of anonymity bothers me) but I can't stand not being able to follow a link back to see who a commenter is. I want to reach out to Other Could Be Mom but alas, she disappeared into the mist.
