The Queen won't friend me back

The other day I sent a friend request to Her Royal Highness, Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor. It was a gesture of good faith and I looked forward to witty exchanges about Welsh Corgis and ingrate relatives. But alas and alack, I just learned that the Queen's not going to be responding to friend requests.

Madame, you wound me.

  1. Ha! The Dalai Lama did the same to me. We are not amused.

  2. No, we are not at all amused. I'm resisting the urge to send her a "poke."

  3. Hey. I was friends with Anna Paquin for a couple of months in 2008 until it came out that it was not really her. Not that I actually thought that it was actually her, sceptic that I am. However, she did post that she and whatshisface got engaged about a week before it was actually confirmed, so it may have been someone in her "circle." You know, like her dog walker or something.

I am friends with Eddie Munster. He posts occasionally.

  4. Anna Paquin, really? A friend of mine from college is friends with Meshach Taylor. He was Anthony on Designing Women. I feel famous by association. How did you happen upon Anna Paquin?

  5. Top this, people: I got an email from Rip Taylor a couple of years ago. A personal email, mind you. I found out he was going to be at a pet event in LA to benefit the rescue where we got Sinbad -Nutts for Mutts it's called. They always have a dozen or so animal-minded celebrities attend. So I went to Rip's website and emailed him about how I've been a fan since I was 5 years old and I was looking forward to meeting him at the event. He mailed back and said he'd look for me. We missed each other, unfortunately, but he emailed me a few days later and said he was sorry we didn't meet up!! The only way that could have been better was if he had told me that Charles Nelson Reilly was with him or that Paul Lynde wasn't really dead. I was really into those guys when I was a kid.

  6. Oooh that's good one. It puts my Gerald McRainey Michele Lee story to shame. Have fun in Amsterdam Melody. Seriously.

  7. Paul, have I missed the GMML story? Please do tell.

  8. Around five years ago I was at the Lyceum Theater on 42nd Street and I was there seeing a revival of Steel Magnolias with a bunch of friends. Delta Burke starred in a really stellar cast that consisted of such notables as Marsha Mason, Christine Ebersole and Frances Sternahgen. Anyhow, at half time we went out to the bar and there they were, Gerald McRainey and Michele Lee, just leaning up against the bar like folks. So we walked over and laughed and joked and had a lovely ten minute intermission. Michele Lee is prettier in person than she is on TV and she was really engaging. Poor Gerald looked a but uncomfortable. After all, he was at a Broadway revival of Steel Magnolias starring his wife and I think the only women in the Lyceum that night were in the cast.

  10. Well if I poke the Queen then I'll have to deal with Prince Philip. I'm sure he wouldn't have a very high opinion of my queen poking.

  11. I was looking forward to tagging photos of us together after too many gin and tonics at the next facebook garden party!

  12. Alas now none of that will never be.

  13. Like you don't have enough queens as friends...
Mink Stole accepted my friend request earlier this week.

  14. No way! The real coup would be Cookie Meuller. If she's still alive that is.

  16. I just can't do it. The Windsors have suffered enough from infidelity.

  17. Well. Here's a sentence I never thought I'd use in my life: No pokin' the Q.

Thank you for providing me with the opportunity.

  18. Whodda thunk that Facebook's irritating poke feature could provide so many hours of amusement.

  19. The Queen is still mad about the whole ass-whooping thing we gave them - don't take it personally!

  20. Twice! Don't forget the War of 1812. Thanks for stopping by Linda, it feels like a visit from real royalty!

  21. I'll see if I can't work on the Queen for you while I'm "over there". I'd be so happy if I were friends w/ Meshach Taylor. Oh how I loved Anthony!

  22. Oh that's right, you'll be going to tea at Buckingham Palace in a few more months. Take lots of cell phone pictures on the sly and stay away from Randy Andy.
