My initial reaction was, "Oh man, I hate round dining tables." Then I watched this video.
Holy smokes!
What's featured here is the Capstan Table by DB Fletcher in Dorset, UK. Though it's not cheap by any means, they're produced in a limited quantity and retail for anywhere between $25 and $50,000, it's just fascinating to watch one in action.
Oh that table is too cool for school! Awesomeness!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that wild? Talk about engineering!
ReplyDeleteThat is the slickest table I have ever seen. Work like this is why I absolutely never brag about my woodworking skills. I think it’s fair to say I hold my own, but that’s about all. My biggest claim to fame thus far is a coffee table for our family room with a top that lifts up to dining height for the wife and me when we’re watching movies or NFL games. But the difference between what I made, using hardware that is widely available, and this table is, um… absolute night and day. I could totally never afford this table for our home. And I am also totally never going to get the skills to build something like this. Holy smokes, what a table!
ReplyDeleteThe precision required to pull off that table is staggering.
ReplyDeleteI find myself mesmerized by the video... I guess I'm easily entertained. =)
ReplyDeleteYou and me both sister!
ReplyDeleteIn my past life before kitchen design, I worked in contract furniture for a big outfit in DFW area. I could see this item in many of the fancy high-end corporate offices we furnished that wouldn't bat an eye at the 50K price tag.
ReplyDeleteI know there's a market for this kind of stuff and it is pretty amazing. I have to admit though, the onyx floor with the wood border in the still photo has me almost as intrigued as the table. I guess that makes me a flooring nerd. So be it!
ReplyDeleteThat's incredible.. I can watch that all day...
