Would you ever?

I would not, could not, in a box.
I could not, would not, with a fox.

  1. No Paul I too would never, but the late Liberace might have loved it if it was studded with rhinestones. -Brenda-

  2. Perfect for some kind of night club. At least you could just wipe off the cushions. Or for people who wear tinfoil hats.

  3. Maybe the perfect sofa for the stage set of the Addams Family broadway show?

  4. Reminds me of the stuff at coffincouches.com but much less character. (and yes, I would TOTALLY have a coffin couch in my house if I had the cash to decorate the rest of my house to fit with it)

  5. Brenda: It does make me think of Liberace.

Kathy: A nightclub or some other kind of club that would require wiping down cushions at the end of a business day. Ewww.

Saxon: A set form a musical, perfect. Although it's the sort of thing I'd expect to see on Lincoln Road.

Nim: If it were a coffin couch it wouldn't bug me so much. That it's a Chesterfield and it's trying to be serious is the problem here.

  6. It could be a perfect Lincoln Road accoutrement--especially since it would wipe clean (thinking of the upchucking club crowd that swirls around the mall by night and the homeless population that uses it as a bedroom)...We could pay people to pee on it to test our theory!

  7. You know, if you walked over there you'd probably find a couple of these things already.

  8. Not anything quite so fussy (yet): Philippe Starck's Bubble Club sofa and chairs is the closest there is at the moment. (Again, the wipe-ability being a true benefit!)

  9. Uh dude --you seriously have bling on the brain! (glittering toilets and see-through gilded tubs, et. al.) I once had the black leather (actually I think it was naugahyde) version of this nightmare... It was really uncomfortable. You do not want to wear shorts while sitting on that thing. You will get stuck and somebody will have to call the fire department.

  10. yes i would so rock this -- but only if i were a vampire living in a stone goth basement w/ chains & torches on the walls - oh and only if i had a spiffy matching silver ruffly shirt.. oh yeah!

  11. LOL: Pam, you are so right! I hadn't thought about that in years. When I was a kid, my grandmother had a naugahyde sofa and I forever had skin burns in the summer!

  12. Pam, Emilie and Saxon: It's funny how this appalling sofa is such a lighting rod for people. I think that's precisely what the manufacturer had in mind.

  13. Not in silver aluminium foil, I wouldn't!! But maybe in a kinder, gentler fabric.

  14. I must be sick...I like it. Actually, I kind of love it.

  15. I think you'd have to be wearing go go boots when you sat in a sofa like that.

  16. Does that mean we'll be seeing you in vinyl go go boots soon, pray tell?

  17. Not me, but Melody can pull them off with no problem!

  18. Hah! I adore white vinyl go go boots. Used to have a pair long long ago!

  19. Did you also have the pick polyester hot pants (wore the ensemble to my 8th-grade sock-hop)? I know; I'm telling my age!

  20. i have no problem with pleather on a sofa, but the silver is dated, dated, dated. looks like it came out of a 1990's nightclub.

  21. It does have that foam party feel to it.

  22. Hot pants and that sofa... not a good idea! Just sayin'...

  23. You're right Pam, gauchos would need to make a comeback.

  24. Paul I see that sofa and think of the vinyl seats in the station wagon again! Hope they have AC.

    Maybe it's Lady Gaga's sofa?

  25. The sad thing is though, that it's a nice chesterfield other than that horrible upholstery. I'd love one like this if it was finished in *something else* .. like maybe a chestnut coloured leather?

  26. That's where the cleverness comes from Nim. That silver is but one out of a whole host of upholstery options. The silver's there to get people talking so that they turn around and buy a chestnut-colored leather.

  27. Yes, that looks like my couch, painted silver. I was going to get rid of my couch because it's not mid-century enough, but instead I could just...paint it?

Actually, I did buy a new couch, the avec sofa from CB2. But it's sitting next to my burgundy leather Chesterfield for now.

  28. Chesterfields are a classic, even when they're silver pleather.
